Quick question: how many times have you seen your kids sitting in front at the TV, a game controller in hand, and eyes completely rapt and fixated on the screen? If your family’s familiar at all with the Wii, Xbox or Playstation (or Nintendo DS, the list goes on…), then you’ll probably know a little Italian man in a red get up with a little red car, very well indeed. Say hello to Mario Kart.

No matter how you feel about videogames, there’s no reason to believe that Mario has supplanted yourself as the figure of fun in your children’s lives. He may have a gleaming moustache and some fantastical tracks to race around in, but it doesn’t mean he has the monopoly on racing. Simply put, there is a very real and valid way to enjoy the exciting aspects of Mario Kart without needing a games console and a TV, and it’s go-karting.

All the crucial elements are there: the polished vehicles, the friendly competition within a group, and most of all, that leap of excitement when you see that ‘go!’ sign and push that pedal down. Your kids may not be racing with a little Italian man and his brother, but they will be getting a better team: their friends. As for the scenery, if you have enough space in your backyard, you can easily transform it into a track fit for Lewis Hamilton with the help of our professionally trained staff. There might not be a rainbow road, but your kids will be too busy navigating themselves along the track than to notice what colour it is.

We are a super kids party idea and as an organised sport, go-karting is a great way to get your kids out of the house and into something active for the day. Get them to drop the game controllers and steady themselves onto a 10-2 position against the wheel instead. Are you ready? Go!
